Three Free Printable Banners

Free Printable Brazil Banner

With the World Cup going on now in Brazil, we wanted to share this free printable Brazil banner.

Free Printable Brazil Banner via @PagingSupermom -- would be great party decor for a Missionary Farewell or Missionary Homecoming or for a #WorldCup Soccer viewing party

Are we big soccer fans? Well, actually no. I’m pretty sure the only soccer games either of us have been to were for one of our kids.

Are we big Brazil fans? Um, no, not really big Brazil fans either, but I created this banner for my sister’s missionary homecoming earlier this year and figured soccer fans could get some extra mileage out of it. Also since we know there’s some debate about whether it’s “Brazil” or “Brasil” we’ve included both S and Z so you can use whichever you prefer.

If you’re with Team USA, of course we’ve got you covered there too — get our free printable USA banner.

Now in case you were interested in seeing some of the fun pictures from my sister’s Missionary Homecoming, I’m happy to share those too! (Don’t know about this whole Mission thing? Find out more.)

The whole family was pretty excited to welcome Jenny back from Brazil, and we got together the night before to make a bunch of welcome home signs to hold up at the airport. It was a crazy, messy business using poster markers, glitter and glue with a bunch of kiddos, but it was great. We also made a fun sign for the house — more on that in a minute.

Free Music Staff for Your Little Mozart

Free Printable Blank Music Staff Paper for your little composer at PagingSupermom.com

Last summer I created blank music staff paper at the request of my daughter. I took the above photo of her with her very first composition and shared it on Instagram. Although it was always my intention to share the free printable sheet music paper with you, somehow I never got around to doing it. So I dug out the file since I’m filling in for Aimée on Worksheet Wednesday today. (She’s jetting off to ALT San Francisco, and I’m staying home with baby Rockwell who is cooing up a storm lately!)

Kids really do love to create things, and if your child is taking piano lessons or otherwise musically inclined they are bound to be thrilled when you hand them a stack of blank music staff paper. Here is a video of Attalie playing her latest song, which she calls “Speed.”

We Love Ruby Valentine

I first discovered Love, Ruby Valentine just after Valentine’s Day last year. One of my daughters found it in the library, and we checked it out. After reading, I really wanted to share it on the blog, but I knew I’d have to wait until Valentines this year.

Remembering my excitement about this book, when I first pulled it out to prepare my review, I quickly re-read the story and wondered why I’d loved it so much last year. I mean the story is fairly clever and has nice rhythm and rhyming (a characteristic I’m loving in author Laurie Friedman’s work), but last year this book had struck a particular cord, and I just wasn’t really feeling it this year. Wondering if I should still review it, I took another gander through, this time looking at what illustrations I’d want to photograph and share with you.

THAT is when it struck me again. I LOVE this story because Ruby Valentine is me.

Of course I don’t live in Heartland in a sweet little cottage with heart-shaped trees, and Valentine’s is not my favorite holiday (that would be Halloween), but I’m certainly no stranger to the hustle and bustle of preparing for some big party or event.

Love Ruby Love GLITTER!

It looks a lot like this anytime I get the glitter out, (probably why I don’t do it more often)

I am Brave and Beautiful — abeauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. Our blogging friend Megan Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they look like without make up, and we joined in. Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces are behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.

Bettijo and I, along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful. You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either — just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instagram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. Also, if you tag it with a second hashtag #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all.

Shave Ice Party + Free Printables

Shave Ice Flavor Labels

First off I want to mention that I’m guest posting today over at the SNAP Blog, and if you’re a blogger, you’ll definitely want to read my post.

Okay, now this story begins back at Mother’s Day, when our friend Dr. Debbie got the sweetest Mother’s Day gift — a shaved ice machine. We’re not talking about a little, hand-crank, snow cone maker, but a totally legit, industrial-size ice shaver. To a pregnant lady craving snow cones daily, I was immediately struck with envy. So I did what I always do when I want something — I searched for it on Amazon.com. Amazon sells EVERYTHING right? Right!

There before my eyes was the Great Northern Premium Quality Ice Cub Commercial Ice Shaver. I immediately sent the link to my darling husband and requested one for my birthday. Gratefully he came through, and our Phoenix summer was much cooler as we enjoyed snow cones pretty much daily all summer long.

How to Host a Shave Iced Party

Well it seems a shame to keep such a good thing to ourselves, so last Saturday we invited all our family and friends over for a Shave Ice Party! I had a lot of fun creating a few details to make the party special. Naturally we’d need to tape up in our kitchen a big menu poster showing all the shaved ice flavors available. I printed it as a 24×36-inch, large-format, black-and-white engineering print at Staples for just a few dollars.
