Do you Animoto?

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I’ve been working on a very special gift for my Mom. Have you ever heard of Animoto? It’s a web-based video slideshow creation tool that totally rocks. Superdad and I have used it to make a video for my brother’s wedding, a lifetime tribute for my Grandmother’s funeral, and to create a Proud-to-be-an-American montage to share at a family reunion.

My favorite projects by far though are the recaps my husband put together of both Attalie and Piper’s baby years. He surprised me with them for Mother’s Day a few years ago and both I and the Grandmas couldn’t have asked for a better gift! This year we’re adding to the collection with a fun video we created of Modette’s first year. I hate to spoil the Mother’s Day surprise, but I just couldn’t wait to share Mimi’s video with you:

Didn’t that turn out amazing?! I love that the slideshows Animoto creates look like a professionally produced music video — the effects are spectacular, and it is super simple to use. We selected our favorite photos of Modette’s first year than uploaded them to Animoto. You then choose a video theme — I used the Animoto classic because it is what I’ve used for my previous kids videos and I kind of wanted them all to match. Superdad picked out a song and uploaded that as well. Then we let Animoto take care of the rest.

Every time I’ve played an Animoto video at an event people always rave — it just doesn’t look like something you easily made at home yourself. You really must try it out. Animoto has always offered unlimited free, 30-second short videos, which is fun for quick recaps like this one we made a few years ago:

Here’s the really SUPER PART… if you use code CleverFL you can also create one feature-length video FREE. Hello… Fabulous and Free Mother’s Day Gift here!! (Code expires 6/30/12).

PLUS we’re giving away a ONE-YEAR ANIMOTO SUBSCRIPTION ($30 value) to one lucky reader! Leave a comment below and answer the question, “Who are you making your video for?” For an extra entry you can go like Supermom and Animoto on Facebook then come back here and tell us you did so in a separate comment.

  1. I’m working on my son’s 2nd year video now. It takes me a while to complete it because I tend to cry at time at how much he has grown! Love it!

  2. What wouldn’t I be working on if I had unlimited videos to make? I would redo my son’s first and second year slideshows, and make a new one for our newest addition coming in July!

  4. Oooh, I’ve had Animoto’s free app for awhile now but have been wanting to try a longer video! Just in time for my son’s 5th birthday this summer – he loves to watch pictures of himself as a baby – and I have the perfect Mindy Gledhill song picked out. Thanks Supermoms!
