So today I wanted to share some ideas for a fun First Day of School Breakfast using some of the free printables from our Back to School with Neon party. Unlike the gorgeous photos from that party, these breakfast photos were taken with my phone very quickly at our real, live breakfast on Monday morning. (YES! Our kids have already started school… AZ is weird like that.) I figured it might be kind of fun to have a peek into one of my real-life Supermom Moments.
Since the morning of the first day of school is already super crazy, I used a trick from Aimée’s Christmas traditions (she always sets the table for Christmas morning the night before — genius, right?!), and I set things up for our Back to School Breakfast Sunday night after the kiddos were tucked in bed.
For placemats I printed our Back to School black and white doodle printables. Then we marked each child’s spot with hot pink, sticky notes — Superdad helped me set things up, and that’s his fancy cursive on the notes. We also used the sticky notes to make a “We Love You” banner on the window. (I snapped the photo after the girls sat down at the table and had stuck their placecards up there too. Also in this photo you can peek out on the patio at the dressers we’re building for the girls room — more on that later!)
I’d intended to use our Back to School with Neon Party Flags in the blueberry muffins, but I forgot to print them out ahead of time. So I opted instead for washi tape flags. The flags were a big hit, and Piper (who just started first grade) took them to school to pass out to friends. Is it just my kids, or do yours do random things like that too? Funny thing was she came home saying I needed to make her more flags since one of her friends didn’t get one and really, REALLY wanted one.
So it certainly wasn’t picture perfect, but I know it made my girls feel so special. They told me I was the best mom ever — that’s how you know it was a Supermom Moment!
