We started our annual Thanksgiving Tree, and it got me thinking Christmas is just around the corner! In fact, I ordered—and just received—our new 12’ Christmas tree and am now madly scouring the internet for Advent Calendars.
Every summer I think I am going to plan ahead and hand make an advent calendar for our family. Reality is, I’m having so much fun enjoying summer with my boys, when would I take the time then to think about Christmas? So, I’m giving up the handmade dream and buying fun calendars!
Here’s what I ordered
1 :: Harrison’s Pick :: LEGO City Advent Calendar
My boys are obsessed with LEGO Minifigures. (Did I mention for Halloween they were LEGO Wompa Cave Skeleton Minifigures? Random!) This LEGO City advent calendar set comes with 6 minifigures, a snowmobile, a dog and more. Harrison will love it!
2 :: Liam’s Pick :: LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar
I actually purchased Liam’s LEGO Star Wars advent calendar back in September. When I spotted this set at the Lego store, I knew he needed it. It comes with 24 mini LEGO gifts including a Snowspeeder, a Millennium Falcon and a TIE Fighter. And if that’s not enough to make Liam happy, I know the Santa Yoda will just about complete his Christmas!
3 :: Mom+Dad’s Pick :: Land of Nod’s All Shapes and Sizes Advent
After careful searching, Clint and I decided the Land of Nod’s All Shapes and Sizes Calendar is the perfect family advent calendar. I’m simply going to stuff each pocket with a fun Christmas activity (read a special book, drive around looking at lights, leave for our fourth annual Polar Express snow trip, watch a Christmas special, make hot cocoa…). With just a few minutes of planning, my family will enjoy a countdown full of excitement.
4 :: If I Had A Girl Pick :: Wooden Nutcracker Suite
No Christmas season is complete without a proper performance of The Nutcracker. I actually danced in the program a few times when I was much younger, so I guess I like to think that all little girls would love to hear the story of Clara’s beloved Nutcracker. And I just know this Wooden Nutcracker advent calendar would be so fun for little girls! Yet if this non-existent girl of mine didn’t like The Nutcracker (gasp), I know she would love art, so I would get her this.
Very pretty, that Land of Nod Advent Calendar! I think all of us are in denial when it comes to advent calendars… I mean really, you need to hang them 25 days ahead – that’s almost a full month! And in Holland (where I live) the weather has been very soft, nothing like a snow white Christmas… So thanks for sharing your advent calendars, I might be in need of one pretty soon!
My grandson is four (right in-between your two) and he also got the Star Wars advent. Very popular with him!
