The Best Farmhouse Sinks

Bettijos Kitchen 52

I knew I wanted to put in a classic, farmhouse sink during my kitchen remodel (check out the progress at #SeventiesKitchenRehab on Instagram). I had no idea how difficult it would be to pick out the best farmhouse sinks. After all my research, I decided to compile and share what I’ve learned in this handy guide to purchasing a farmhouse sink. Be sure to pin this post so you’ll have it handy when you need it.

Guide to picking out the best farmhouse sink for your dream kitchen from @PagingSupermom

I’ve been smitten with these iconic farm sinks, also known as apron-front sinks, ever since we had one in a dusty basement apartment as newlyweds in Alexandria, VA, about 15 years ago. That sink was pretty much the only thing I liked about the place, but I remember it being so big I could almost take a bath in it.

THIS is the kitchen sink of my dreams. I figured that it would be pretty easy to find, but when I typed “farm sink” into the Home Depot website, I was quickly overwhelmed by choices… not only in design, styling and color but also in material. I knew I wanted plain and white, but I had no idea whether I wanted fireclay, cast iron or stainless steel. What type of apron front sink material is best?

Make Your Own Shoe Decals

Catch Me If You Can Vans

We had so much fun using our Cricut Explore to create the iron-on decals for our girl’s leggings project that we couldn’t resist whipping up something for the boys too. These text decals are a subtle but totally rad way to dress up a pair of canvas shoes.

You could write your child’s name, or any favorite quote or phrase. Inspired by our slightly rambunctious boys, whom we’re always chasing after, we made “Catch Me If You Can” decals.

We couldn’t decide whether we liked better the regular wording or the leftover strip peeled off from around the words — so we used both! We’re very curious which way you prefer, so please leave a comment below and let us know.

DIY Knee-Patch Leggings

Flower Star Patch Leggings Cricut 1

My Cricut Explore has been pretty busy this week as we are preparing for my sister’s wedding Friday. (Yes things are utter chaos around here right now!) But we were invited to participate in the Cricut Design Space Star challenge, and with summer travels we missed the first round of projects. We really wanted to get into the game this month so we took a quick break from wedding stuff to bring you this fun Knee-Patch legging tutorial.

I am Brave and Beautiful — abeauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. Our blogging friend Megan Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they look like without make up, and we joined in. Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces are behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.

Bettijo and I, along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful. You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either — just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instagram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. Also, if you tag it with a second hashtag #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all.
