I’ve been dying to share our family photos on the blog for weeks now. I posted my inspiration board and some tips on how to dress for the best family pic back when I was planning out our shoot. I was actually planning to share our family photos on the blog the first week of January, but with all the holiday illnesses that came our way, our New Year’s cards went out a few weeks late (NOT a Supermom Moment but at least I got them mailed off in January, right?!) So today is the exciting day when I get to show you all my favorite photos from our retro, carnival-themed shoot done by the talented Nick Sorensen.

We made those fun “2013” numbers following this tutorial. They actually light up although we didn’t have electricity at the shoot location. If you follow me on Instagram (@Bettjio) you might have seen how we lit them up in our front window on New Year’s Eve!
We also realized that with three kids “2013” contained each of their birth order numbers. In my family, birth order is kind of a big deal — there were seven kids and my mom would have us count off in birth order when we’d load in the big van on family trips (to make sure we didn’t forget anyone, which we did once, in Colorado, but the counting off saved us, and we went back to get her. Really though that’s a whole other story…) So we thought it would be fun to have our girls pose with their birth order number.

While I loved all the girl’s dresses, Piper’s Tea Collection dress (which sadly is no longer available, but how cute is this one) inspired a lot of twirling and dancing, which I think made our photo shoot loads more fun!

The girls are adorable! I love the colors everyone wore: bright and cheerful! The numbers you used are brilliant!
