With holidays and such we’ve missed a couple Worksheet Wednesdays, but we’re back today with an extra special worksheet designed by my own clever super daughter Attalie.

She loves color, art and pretty much anything creative. One of her favorite activities is what we like to call “Imagination Workouts.” Attalie tells me she got the idea in art class at school. The first I saw of them was a worksheet she created totally from scratch. It featured a hand-drawn grid that was not at all straight but very cute! (If I was really Supermom I would have remembered to take a picture of it — it was SO precious, but I fear it ended up in the trash.)

Well Attalie really wanted me to share this idea on the blog. So we decided I would use the computer to create a nice straight grid, and then she would hand draw in the lines and shapes in each of the boxes.

Last summer I created blank music staff paper at the request of my daughter. I took the above photo of her with her very first composition and shared it on Instagram. Although it was always my intention to share the free printable sheet music paper with you, somehow I never got around to doing it. So I dug out the file since I’m filling in for Aimée on Worksheet Wednesday today. (She’s jetting off to ALT San Francisco, and I’m staying home with baby Rockwell who is cooing up a storm lately!)

Kids really do love to create things, and if your child is taking piano lessons or otherwise musically inclined they are bound to be thrilled when you hand them a stack of blank music staff paper. Here is a video of Attalie playing her latest song, which she calls “Speed.”

Since this post is about our new graph paper I suppose you’re expecting me to write a story inspired by Liam or Harrison’s newfound love of architectural design–and although my boys love this paper, I really created it with me in mind.

When my Dad is not busy being a SuperPapa, he fills his extra hours being an Architect. Growing up, I watched my Dad take notes, create building sketches and write letters on really cool graph paper notepads nicely branded with his logo. (I should have known I was destined for advertising and design then!) Shortly after Bettijo and I started Paging Supermom I designed my own Paging Supermom branded graph paper to be just like him. (I wonder if I can get his Architecture firm to use my version instead?)

But really, graph paper is so versatile. Your kids can probably come up with a million uses for it–to get them started, here are some ideas:

I’m pleased to report that my house has officially begun our Christmas season! Oh yes — our trees are up, the outside lights are hung and every December weekend is now booked with a Christmas party of sorts. Oh, and the best part: my online shopping spree is providing lots of gifts being delivered daily–I am especially happy about this because this is the first year I will finish my shopping early. (Yes, that is an official Supermom Moment for me!)

Anyway, as we stare in awe at our lovely family room tree, Liam and Harrison seem to be enjoying counting our ornaments, so I just know this worksheet will bring a holly jolly smile to them and any other counting-obsessed children.

Since my family travelled pretty much all summer, my boys suggested we color in a map to show the states we visited this year. I quickly formatted and printed this map only to discover confusion among my youngest. He was so concerned: where were Alaska and Hawaii? Since we hadn’t visited either of those states, I (lazily) left them off the map which ended up presenting us the perfect opportunity to explain a couple terms we hear referring to similar maps: The Lower 48 and Continental United States.
