It’s a favorite St. Patrick’s Day traditions in our family to transform dirty, old pennies into shiny, lucky ones. I’ve never met a child who didn’t love coins, and to watch them go from dull brown to shimmery copper makes this experience all the more magical for little ones.

We always find it hard to dive back into our normal routine after the holidays. We’ve been enjoying a laid back routine, and that’s probably why this post, which was supposed to go up yesterday, is making it up a day late. We hope you’ll bear with us as we try to get things back on track.

It seems only fitting to being the new year with a post about getting organized. Make A Colorful Drum!

We’ve been having a lot of fun with these tin can drums. We created this project a few months ago since it was for the November issue of Raising Arizona Kids magazine. Not sure how many of you realize, but deadlines for print magazines are a couple months ahead of real time, so it’s actually pretty amazing that these drums we made during the summer are still being played with in our home.

I guess we should have known we’d made a hit when the kids wouldn’t even leave them alone long enough for photographs. We honestly were not planning to shoot this with the kids, but they kept sneaking into the photos since they couldn’t resist the urge to beat on these drums. So finally I just decided to snap a few with them in it too.
