It’s smart to do a little prep work so the morning of the first day is a breeze.

1. Have your child help pick out a favorite outfit ahead of time and be sure to set it aside — this point might seem obvious but if you’ve got little ones who are excited to wear new school clothes, this step could save a lot of hassle on the first day.

2. Take your kids in for a fresh haircut. Have you heard about the new Online Check-In App from Great Clips? It’s a free app that can save time by helping you locate your nearest salon and add your family to the wait list. For every download of the FREE app, Great Clips has pledged to donate to the Adopt a Classroom cause. Go here to learn more.

3. Be sure to download and print out our free, fill-in photo signs for your kiddos to hold in their pictures.

Inspirational Back to School Breakfast

Free Printable Toppers for Muffins at a Back to School Breakfast via @PagingSupermom

Okay we’ve been shamelessly teasing you about this Back to School breakfast, and we are excited to finally share today all the gorgeous photos! Instead of focusing on school buses, apples and the traditional back to school icons, we tried to be inspired instead by a mom’s love and the bittersweet feelings that often overwhelm us all on the first day of school.

I want to do a Back to School Breakfast like this for my kids - all the printables are FREE via @PagingSupermom #freeprintables #backtoschool

We want so much for our children — for all their hopes and dreams to be realized; for them to learn and grow and become amazing individuals; for them to get good grades and get along with others; for them to be invisible to the bullies and never have a bump, scrape or bad day. As much as we wish to, we simply can’t shelter them from life. However we can show them as much love as possible and urge them to be strong no matter what comes.

In my home these back to school breakfasts are a tradition and they are one of the things that I hope will inoculate my kids against all the unknowns of school. We are sharing these freebies so you can quickly throw together a send off breakfast for your kids too. Feel free to use as many or as few of the pieces as you like — we’ve got placemats, placecards, muffin toppers, a banner and even a fill-in photo sign so you can get those first day of school pictures (read our first day photo tips).

The transition from lazy summer days back to a strict school schedule can be tough on kids. I like to decorate the house a bit to help the kids get excited for the change.

Before I tell you about our back to school banner, though, I wanted to let you know about a easy opportunity to help out the Adopt a Classroom foundation through Great Clips #GREATLIST program — all you have to do is download a free app!

Great Clips recently launched a super-convenient Online Check-In App that lets you add your name to the waiting list at your local Great Clips salon (with more than 3,300 salons throughout the United States and Canada, there is bound to be one near you). It’s not an appointment — what it does is let you add your name to the list before arriving at the salon to help save you time, and more time definitely comes in handy during the back to school rush.

The best part is when you download the FREE Online Check-In app, Great Clips will donate to the Adopt a Classroom cause. According to AdoptAC, on average teachers spend $1,000 of their own money to make sure their students have the resources they need to learn. Great Clips has pledged up to $20,000 to AdoptAC and every download of the free Online Check-In app helps.

Cute Alphabet Art Print and other Free Printables for Back to School via @PagingSupermom

We created this Modern ABC Art Print to share in three sizes — print as a 16×20, 11×14 or 8×10. We’re planning to frame it for our mantle, but it would also make a terrific and inexpensive gift for teachers. It looks fabulous in these sleek IKEA Tolsby frames that we love. They go perfectly with the free printable Mod Apple Art Prints we shared last year.

Teacher Appreciation Door Decorating

This morning I woke up early to go decorate the door for my daughter’s teacher. Our school is one of many that have a tradition where homeroom moms decorate the classroom doors for teacher appreciation week. Since Aimée and I also headed up the SNAP Door Decorating contest, I guess you could say we are becoming door decorating experts. I thought it would be fun to share some of the doors I saw in the hallway at school today (please excuse the phone photos).
