Free Printable Back to School Banner

Ready for the kids to head back to school? Get festive with this free printable back to school banner that I love to display every August/September on my fireplace mantle. The skinny, decorative pennants are inspired by ribbon bookmarks in old books, and I think this would look adorable next to a stack of vintage books. When I was kicking around what sentiment would be right for a back to school banner, I decided that “Hit the Books” was perfect!

The transition from lazy summer days back to a strict school schedule can be tough on kids, so I like to decorate the house a bit to help the kids get excited for the change. You can use my free printable template and make a “Hit the Books” banner of your own to help decorate your home for this back to school season.

How to Assemble a Banner

First download the free Back to School Banner template below then print on cardstock. Cut out each of the pennants. Next hang the pennants on twine, ribbon or string. You can slit the pennants with a craft knife and thread onto string or use clothespins or binder clips to attach each one. I hung my banner on twine using these fun, industrial-looking bulldog clips.
