Modette’s First Birthday

First Birthday Free Printable High Chair Signs #firstbirthday #printables

I remember when my first baby’s first birthday came around — I couldn’t believe how fast time could fly. Well guess what, with baby No. 3 I’ve learned that time really just never slows down. I think baby Modette’s first year went by in record time, and with all the climbing and getting into things she’s been doing lately, I can tell she’s already well on her way to becoming a terrible two year old!

We recently shared Modette’s first birthday party over at One Charming Party. I love to think of all the places Modette will go some day — the inspiration behind her world traveler party theme. I designed printable high chair signs (there are boy and girl versions!) that you can download for free.

Her ruffly birthday cake was topped with a mini globe, and I added a darling pennant with her name. (Get a template personalized your little one here.)

Since Piper and Modette have birthdays within a week of each other, I already had my hands full with the Lalaloopsy party plans. So I kept things relatively simple for Modette’s party (by my standards anyway).

Bali Party Photo Shoot at Z Gallerie

Z Gallerie in Scottsdale, AZ Hosted our Bali Birthday Party Photo Shoot #zgallerie

Have you ever wondered what goes into creating the party displays we share here and on One Charming Party? Well today we thought we’d give you a little glimpse behind the scenes for our Bali Birthday Party shoot at Z Gallerie in Scottsdale.

Let me start by saying that it is rare for us to go to a commercial location to shoot, but at times we just don’t have anything at our homes or a friends’ home that will provide just the right backdrop. After planning our Bali-inspired birthday party we were on the hunt for the perfect photo shoot location. Being in the Phoenix desert, a lush, tropical setting can be hard to come by.

Bettijo was shopping at one of our favorite spots called Kierland Commons and wandered into the Z Gallerie. Bettijo says she stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the beautiful, carved Pradesh Day Bed. She knew she’d found the perfect set for our Bali party!

We are forever grateful to Andre and the rest of the wonderful staff of Z Gallerie for being such great hosts during our shoot. Can I just tell you how amazingly handy it is to do a photo shoot in a store like Z Gallerie? With free reign of such a spectacular collection of well-curated accessories — we were in heaven! If you’ve never shopped at Z Gallerie before you simply must go.

I forgot to mention in the cotton candy post yesterday, but this week we’re sharing Piper’s Fifth Birthday party from April — it was loads of fun and all based around the adorable Lalaloopsy dolls. (Go here for a complete look at our Lalaloopsy Birthday Party.)

Have you seen them? They remind my sister and I of Raggedy Ann a bit, but they’re so colorful and sweet. I wish I was a little girl all over again so I could collect these dolls. Instead my daughters have amassed quite the collection — let it suffice to say that we all need to avoid the toy aisle on shopping trips {ahem}. So they’re seriously cute and when Piper requested a Lalaloopsy birthday party I was very excited to get working.

Let’s Make Cotton Candy

How To Make Cotton Candy Tutorial

I love cotton candy and wanted to have some at Piper’s birthday party this year. I really wanted to serve it up fresh so I began looking into cotton candy machines. I fell in love with the retro look of this shiny red machine from Nostalgia Electrics. I also liked the idea of being able to make cotton candy from any hard candies — even sugar-free candy.

Nostalgia Electrics was kind enough to send us their Retro Series Cotton Candy Maker to test out. We did try a few batches using various hard candies, but even when we crushed the candy up the resulting cotton candy was more brittle and not quite as fluffy as we liked. So I found some flossing sugar (we used Flossugar Boo-Blue flavor) and the results were super

I’ve been dying to share my oldest daughter’s birthday party since, um, January {blush!} Crazy how time flies. I guess it’s better late than never though, right?! In my defense, at first I was waiting to share all the lovely details from this party because it was to be featured over at Hostess with the Mostess, but enough excuses… I’ll start with my favorite party detail — Gilded Egyptian Princess Cuffs!
