I’m so excited for Thanksgiving next week. Honestly I can’t wait to have a slice of Pecan Pie. I am also looking forward to setting the table for our family feast. This day is one of the few times we actually dig out the fine china, silverware and fabric napkins.

Spills are inevitable, but there’s no sense in letting the fear of impossible stains keep us from enjoying our cloth-napkin tradition. Don’t stress about keeping tablecloths or napkins stain-free, just be sure to use Clorox 2 Stain Remover & Color Booster.

Halloween with Shutterfly Decor + Giveaway

Put a monogram on your pumpkin -- this looks EASY! Tutorial @PagingSupermom #shutterflydecor

With preparations for my Halloween dinner party underway and assembling all the kids’ costumes, we’re in high gear for Halloween! Yesterday Aimée came over and helped me style my front porch with a bunch of darling decor from Shutterfly.

I want to make some fun custom decor for my #Halloween front porch! Use Shutterfly to print things -- free downloads @PagingSupermom #shutterflydecor

It is so much fun to be able to literally dream up any decor and bring it to life with Shutterfly. I’ve had the “something wicked this way comes” quote from Macbeth on my brain for weeks, and I just love how it looks turned into Wood Wall Art on my front door. (You can make one too with our free graphic file downloads, see below.)

I usually hang a wreath on the door, but I think this wood print is fabulous, and I love how the wood grain shows through. Actually I was planning to lean it up beside my door, but when we tried hanging it, we were instantly sold — the scale of it on the door is so much fun. I glued a couple pieces of felt to the bottom corners to help protect my door and the print from movement when the door opens and closes.

Beautiful Adventures with Shutterfly

As we head into the cozy fall months, it’s fun to remember our summer adventures. So when Shutterfly asked us to create some home decor inspired by our recent travels, I knew exactly what vacations I wanted to be reminded of daily.

We travel quite a bit as a family, but some trips definitely turn out better than others. However, we’ve never regretted a vacation — when things don’t go as planned, we simply call it an adventure! And, as it turns out, my family LOVES a good adventure.

I just adore our new inspirational pillow and soft fleece blanket ensemble on our living room couch. This quote is exactly how I picture married life: a beautiful adventure with my best friend and our kids. It’s a fabulous daily reminder for me that, just like some trips, when things don’t go as planned, it’s simply another adventure.

Rocket Nursery with Shutterfly

Rocket or Space Nursery Ideas with #freeprintables via @PagingSupermom

Have you visited Shutterfly.com lately? They have added pillows, blankets and a whole bunch of other useful items, that you can personalize to create the perfect decor for your home. We’ve been meaning to find some time to try out a few of the new Shutterfly products, so when they asked us to design a nursery we were glad to finally have an excuse to jump in. We decided to give Rockwell’s Star-Gazer Nursery a little update.

Many of you know Rockwell’s nickname is “Rocket,” and naturally I’ve become obsessed with anything rocket related. I wanted to incorporate more rocket and space items into his nursery, but there was very little out there I liked. It seems like whenever I am decorating a room, I get an idea that is so perfect in my head, but after hours and hours of shopping I can’t find anywhere to buy the pieces I envisioned. I’m so excited that with the help of Shutterfly I can skip all that hassle.

I really love these Acrylic Photo Blocks that we’ve placed on his dresser. Also Auntie Aimée drew Rockwell some adorable space graphics, which we turned into a set of Photo Cube blocks that I know Rockwell is going to love to play with.

We were particularly excited to try the Tulip Stencil Spray Adhesive. You spray it on the back of the stencils to help seal out paint drips. The new Tulip Soft Paints are specifically designed for fabric, but we decided to test them out on a variety of surfaces.

Baby Boy Star Gazer Nursery Reveal

Star & Space Themed Baby Boy Nursery at PagingSupermom.com

I am so over the moon about Rockwell’s Star-Gazer Nursery — it was so fun to plan and create. We love to throw parties, and designing a room is so similar to designing a party, only you get to enjoy your creation for a lot longer. Since we already had a complete nursery setup from baby Modette, the objective here was to transform the space into something fitting of a boy with as little hassle and expense as possible. I fell in love with a bunch of awesome things from The Land of Nod and everything came together just as I envisioned. I have been dying to show the room to you; so let’s get this tour started…

How to Make a Mobile

DIY Mobile Tutorial at PagingSupermom.com

I am so excited to finally share Baby Rockwell’s nursery makeover with you. We’ve had a few delays, but I just put the finishing touches on things, and I’m happy to report that Mr. R loves his room (Thank you Land of Nod!) Today I get to share his favorite detail of the moment — the Galaxy Star Mobile we created to hang above the crib.

DIY Mobile Tutorial at PagingSupermom.com

Rockwell seems to have no choice but to stare into the Star Mobile with wonder and awe, while I scurry around after Modette who is shamelessly tearing the room apart faster than I can put it together. No wonder it has been so hard to get the place photographed! (Hopefully this week!)

DIY Mobile Tutorial at PagingSupermom.com

Using leftover American Crafts Cardstock and Glitter Paper from our Glitter Academy project, and my Cricut Expression 2, I cut out 140+ of stars in about an hour (WAAAAY better than by hand!). To make a mobile you will also need a few No. 12 Screw Eyes, fishing line, and two 3/8-inch, square, wood dowels cut down to 22-inches. (If you ask, the hardware store will usually cut them down for free.)

A Star-Gazer Nursery for Baby Boy

Girl Literary Nursery at PagingSupermom.com

So I swear it seems like I just finished Modette’s nursery, and now it’s time for her to move into a big girl room and convert the nursery into something fitting of a baby boy. So I’m facing that dilemma that many Supermoms before me have had: how to transform a nursery from girl to boy (or vice versa) without starting completely over!

Color Palette that goes from Girl Nursery into a Boy Nursery at PagingSupermom.com

Gratefully I chose good neutrals when I was creating Modette’s nursery, and by switching out just a few accessories I’m well on my way to a nursery for our baby boy. The foundation of Modette’s room were gray walls (remember that cool faux trim paint job) and white furniture, both of which will be right at home in a boy’s room. The gray was complimented by a pretty chartreuse green and aqua color combo. For the boy’s room, the aqua gets to stay put (since I’m lazy and really don’t want to repaint the rocking horse or bins on the bookshelf), and I’m swapping the chartreuse for a truer yellow. The accent color in Modette’s room was magenta, which will be replaced by red in the boy’s palette.

Modette’s nursery had a literary theme and as much as I love the book-page mobile that Aimee made, it will be replaced by a a large format chalkboard print of the constellations for the star-gazing theme in the boy’s nursery. Several of the little accessories — like the vintage globe that is the perfect shade of aqua blue — will carry over nicely into the boy’s room.

The Prettiest Humidifer & Important Cleaning and use Facts at PagingSupermom.com #humidifiers #babynursery #tutorials

As I’ve mentioned before, this year’s cold and flu season really took a toll on both Aimée and my families. I felt especially bad for little Modette while she had her cold — such a big cough for such a little body. Since there are really no safe over-the-counter cough medicines for children under two, sadly there is not much parents can do to help when baby has a cold. It is hard not to do *something* though and most pediatricians recommend putting a humidifier in baby’s room.
