Today we’re kicking off our second annual #SupermomTreeParade on Instagram. This virtual tree parade lasts all week, and we would like to invite you to join in on the fun. Just take a photo of your Christmas Tree, share it on Instagram and be sure to tag #SupermomTreeParade @PagingSupermom so we will see it. To make things even more interesting, our friends over at The Land of Nod are offering a $200 gift card to one lucky parade entry (see contest rules below). Shutterfly Halloween Front Porch Decor 12

With preparations for my Halloween dinner party underway and assembling all the kids’ costumes, we’re in high gear for Halloween! Yesterday Aimée came over and helped me style my front porch with a bunch of darling decor from Shutterfly.

It is so much fun to be able to literally dream up any decor and bring it to life with Shutterfly. I’ve had the “something wicked this way comes” quote from Macbeth on my brain for weeks, and I just love how it looks turned into Wood Wall Art on my front door. (You can make one too with our free graphic file downloads, see below.)

I usually hang a wreath on the door, but I think this wood print is fabulous, and I love how the wood grain shows through. Actually I was planning to lean it up beside my door, but when we tried hanging it, we were instantly sold — the scale of it on the door is so much fun. I glued a couple pieces of felt to the bottom corners to help protect my door and the print from movement when the door opens and closes.

As we head into the cozy fall months, it’s fun to remember our summer adventures. So when Shutterfly asked us to create some home decor inspired by our recent travels, I knew exactly what vacations I wanted to be reminded of daily.

We travel quite a bit as a family, but some trips definitely turn out better than others. However, we’ve never regretted a vacation — when things don’t go as planned, we simply call it an adventure! And, as it turns out, my family LOVES a good adventure.

I just adore our new inspirational pillow and soft fleece blanket ensemble on our living room couch. This quote is exactly how I picture married life: a beautiful adventure with my best friend and our kids. It’s a fabulous daily reminder for me that, just like some trips, when things don’t go as planned, it’s simply another adventure.

I am so excited to be posting today for this Summer Reading Series! I love flamingos, so when I spotted this book, Flora and the Flamingo, I knew I had to get it for my daughter, Kate. The illustration and typography on the cover sold me without even opening the book. Once we “read” it together, I realized that it is a picture book with no words. The gorgeous illustrations tell a story of a girl and a flamingo who explore their friendship through synchronized dance. Kate was so, so cute and made up her own story to tell me while looking at the pictures. From the publisher, Chronicle Books:

I loved that it challenged Kate to be creative and come up with her own story to tell about this adorable duo. For our book-inspired craft, we decided to create a flamingo paper puppet dance recital!

Today we are celebrating the last day of National Craft Month and starting the countdown to SNAP 2014 with the ultimate craft room giveaway!

We are headed back to SNAP this year, and are super-excited to be hosting the Door Decorating Contest. It all started when we decided to turn our 2012 SNAP hotel room into the “Supermom Headquarters” for our stay, affixing our burst logo with vinyl to the hotel door. We didn’t ask permission, were a bit sneaky, and NEARLY forgot to remove it when we checked out (wonder what the hotel charge would have been for that?), but all is well that ends well, and it was so fun to share our excitement with the rest of the attendees.

Last year the whole door decorating thing came above board at SNAP, and thanks to the contest sponsor 3M there were command strips galore. Check out some of these fun doors…
