Squatting the Baby Days Away

harrison squat

Today my baby Harrison turns two.

When my parents came to visit when Harrison was born, I remember sitting on the floor next to my Dad as he watched my oldest, Liam, inspect his newly acquired Thomas trains. Liam was just over two and was happily playing in a squatting position.

My Dad pointed out Liam’s squatting techniques, and I took mental note. I’m not sure exactly when Liam outgrew the squatting, but he doesn’t squat like that anymore.

Last weekend when our family was on vacation, I couldn’t stop myself from taking this picture of Harrison. While it may seem insignificant, I can’t help but wonder how many more times I’ll get to watch him play in this toddler-esque squat. I love it. My Dad’s right: it’s a simple position toddlers play in, but it represents so much more. Especially when it’s so short-lived.
