The weather has been over 110 degrees here these past few weeks. So it’s no wonder that when I think of summer activities they all involve getting wet! My kids love water guns, and I used to love them too, but have you ever noticed that Mom is always prime target?! So I created these printable water gun targets to give the kids something else to shoot at.
I printed my Water Gun Targets on 11×17 cardstock since I wanted larger targets for the kids to shoot at. The free download also includes templates formatted for regular letter-sized paper so you can easily print at home.
If you have an inkjet printer you’ll probably want to laminate the targets to keep the ink from running. If you don’t have a laminator, you could also cover the targets with strips of clear packing tape to help waterproof them.
TO MAKE: You could just print and use as is, but if you have a little more time you can make the star into a moving target. Use a craft knife to cut out the center star. Then suspend the star from a piece of string as the bullseye.
as a kid I had some pretty epic water gun fights with my brothers and sisters.
Super Soakers were our guns of choice.
A quick word about water guns… as a kid I had some pretty epic water gun fights with my brothers and sisters. Super Soakers were our guns of choice. For now, my kids are satisfied with the guns we can get at the dollar store, but as they get older I’m sure we’ll need to upgrade. These super-cute laser gun looking squirters I found in the Target dollar spot a while back (here’s some similar ones on Amazon).
Larger guns like Super Soakers will have a steadier water stream so you can practice target shooting from a ways back. To play a target-shooting game, hang the targets on a wall or from a tree, then make a line on the ground using tape that all shooters have to stand behind. For a fun variation, cut strips of toilet paper and use these to suspend the star — with enough water spray eventually the star will fall. Perhaps you’ll have a little friendly competition to see who can drop the star fastest?
This is a great idea for water squirters!
