I spent last weekend at the Craft & Hobby Association’s Creativation tradeshow that was here in Phoenix this year. It is always so much fun to go to CHA and see the new crafting products that are coming out. In addition to ogling lots of craft supplies, I also partnered with 3M to host an adorable Emoji Party Workshop, demonstrating all the ways I use their products when I’m hosting parties. While I was setting up for the workshop, since I also had Valentine’s Day on the brain, I realized how perfect Emojis are for the holiday. So today I’m showing how I’m using my printables to create adorable Emoji Valentine’s Decor.
In case you’re wondering about why I love 3M so much… it might help to know that they’re the makers of Command™ products, Post-Its®, and Scotch™ tape… including of course all my favorite decorative tapes! Basically 3M products work behind the scenes, but they’re truly the unsung party heroes. So much of the magic I pull off is thanks to a great adhesive that will make things stick right where I want them. When I found the Command™ Party Banner Anchors my life was forever changed for the better. It might seem like I’m exaggerating, but probably only if you’ve never tried to hang a banner from the front of tablecloth-covered table. It’s not easy folks BUT IT IS with these guys. Trust me you need a stash of them.
Okay but back to Valentine’s Day (which is coming up sooner then I’d like to think!) I took this free printable Mix and Match Valentine’s Banner and combined it with the Emoji banner (from my Emoji Baby Shower), to create some super-cute Emoji Valentine’s Decor!
Go here to download the free printable Valentine’s Banner, and the Emoji banner template is available for $7.49 in my Supermom Coop. You can use this Emoji Banner in lots of ways, and I’m planning to print extras to scatter on our breakfast table when we do our traditional family Valentine’s breakfast. You can get my deluxe Emoji Valentine’s Breakfast pack in the Supermom Co-op.
TO MAKE: Print both templates on cardstock, cut out each of the banner pieces, and then clip onto string to create your Emoji Valentine’s Decor. I used the small, black binder clips which have a perfect, sort of techy feel for this banner. Now would probably be a good time to remind you about my absolute favorite scissors — the Martha Stewart All-Purpose scissors have a super-sharp point, which makes detail cutting easy. Most detail scissors are pretty small, but these are full size, which means they are more comfortable and can get through the job faster!
Here’s another little tip… I have a plastic bin where I save all my old banners, so I only have to cut a banner out once. Yup, that means this year I didn’t have to cut anything out at all ;)
I have used this Valentine’s banner for the last few years, and I still love it, but it’s nice to freshen things up a bit, and the Emojis did the trick! So do you think you’d use Emoji Valentine’s Decor?
