When I saw this Pebble Domino Game in Martha Stewart a while back, I knew I wanted to make it — turns out it is a fairly simple project and perfect to make and give.
I made this for my 4-year-old niece. Want to make a set for a youngster on your list? Here’s what you need:
First sort through your pebbles and find the 28 best stones to be your game pieces — you’re looking for the flattest, largest ones.
Next use the paint pen to draw the domino faces on each of the stones. Martha’s instructions were pretty simplistic, and I found myself wishing for a chart that showed all of the 28 number combinations I needed in order to have a full set of dominoes. Here it is! (A BIG thank you to my friend Kelsey for drawing this for me!)
I trimmed the edges of a large fabric scrap with pinking shears and then placed all my fully dried dominoes in the center. I pulled up all the fabric around the sides and secured with an elastic hair tie to make a pretty little package. Tie on a gift tag and you’re all set to give!1
