It’s that time of year when we all flood each other’s feeds with photos of our children on the first day of school. Are you ready? School supplies… backpack… cute new outfit? Check! Check! Check! All that’s left is to get first day of school photo signs for your offspring to pose with as you snap a darling photo commemorating the milestone. Always wanting to help out, I’ve rounded up nine of the absolute coolest first day of school photo signs, including, of course, a bunch of free printables. Be sure to pin this so you can find it again next year!

I know I’m biased, but I think my Back to School With Neon photo signs are the definition of cool. I designed these first day of school photo signs to coordinate with my Back to School With Neon party printables. Originally the sign had a pre-printed year, but I’ve since changed the template to have a spot that you can fill in.

I love the timeless black-and-white design of these elegant school photo signs I found on Remodelaholic.

I designed this Fill-In School Photo Sign to be versatile and stylish. With just one file to download, print a copy for each child and then they or you can fill it in. This photo sign coordinates perfectly with my Inspirational Back to School Breakfast.

I’m a sucker for the classic, spotted composition notebooks so naturally I’m in love with these first day of school photo signs from The Child At Heart Blog. Frankly I’m kind of mad I didn’t think to make them myself. LOL!

If I’m being totally honest, this next one gives my Back to School With Neon sign (up at the top), a run for it’s money in the title of THE coolest first day of school photo sign. I mean everything about this sign from Mortiz Fine Designs is rad.

I love my Heidi Swapp Lightbox, and I’m dying to get my hands on a set of those double-height numbers — such a fun way to personalize your first day of school photos! If you already have a Lightbox then this is a no brainer, if not here’s a good excuse to get one.

These retro felt letterboards are making a huge come back, and I’m pretty sure we have Letterfolk to thank for that. Of course they’re perfect for the first day of school photos. FYI… my girl Heidi created a white felt letterboard that is pretty cool if you like to your classics to push the envelope a bit.

Depending on how frazzled your first day of school mornings tend to be, sidewalk chalk signs might not be the most practical photo sign option. Maybe you could draw it ahead of time? QUICK TIP: Wet the tip of your sidewalk chalk to get more vibrant color that will go on smoothly. Here’s a few really cute ideas I found (click the photos for details)

I found this whimsical idea to turn a balloon into a first day of school photo sign using a paint pen. I love how the black balloon mimics a chalkboard, but you could really use just about any color balloon you like. Just be sure you also have helium handy. I saw the idea on Pinterest, and it’s from my talented friend Sara who used to have a wonderful blog called Confetti Sunshine that sadly now is gone. Her new company, Compass Crates, provides monthly adventure kits.
