Just over a year ago we had begun our prep work for the kitchen remodel (we chronicled the whole ordeal on Instagram check out the tag #SeventiesKitchenRehab). You should see how it looked before (YIKES!) Now that the remodel is complete, the kitchen — with it’s gorgeous all-white Kraftmaid cabinets — seriously makes me smile everyday.

I still love the original decor with blue and yellow accents (if you missed that big reveal, go here to check it out), but I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit for Spring. I found this pink and yellow stripe rug at IKEA for a steal and then swapped out the blue pillows for pink ones on the window seat. Finally I added a pink dishtowel, and it’s a whole new look.

I love that the white cabinets and gray + white backsplash create such a neutral backdrop. Of course I’ve got big pops of yellow on the stools and sconce lights, but for now I’m loving the yellow and it’s easy to pair with another color. Plus if I ever do tire of the yellow, it’s just a couple cans of spray paint away from being new again.

Now let’s talk lemonade! I think most people associate lemons with summertime, but the lemon trees here in Phoenix have their fruit on in the winter. So we’re all about the lemons from about January through March. Just a few weeks ago the citrus blossoms were on the trees and making everything smell just heavenly too… I just love spring!

My kids and I were recently picking citrus in my friend’s backyard, and she shared a recipe that an old mutual friend had given to her for homemade lemonade.

Lemonade is pretty simple with just three ingredients, but I’ve never been quite sure on the ratios. My friends, this is the PERFECT combination of lemon juice, sugar and water so be sure to pin it so you’ll have it handy when you need. Seriously I dare you to make a batch and tell me it’s not the greatest lemonade ever!

Homemade Lemonade Recipe

1 cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup sugar
2 quarts ice water

Add ice to the water and let chill while you juice lemons. Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher and stir until the sugar crystals have dissolved. Serve very cold.
