Want to know what you’ll need (besides printables) to make your party just like mine? The craft store can be overwhelming — filled with a million different tools and gadgets. If you are wondering which ones are really essential, today we’ve got a cheat sheet of our favorite tools and supplies. These are the ones we use over and over whenever we style a birthday party, baby shower or holiday meal.

Want to decorate like a party stylist? Here are the must-have tools via @PagingSupermom

A :: Martha Stewart Craft Knife – The most comfortable craft knife, and we use it all the time for slitting the upper corners of pennants. Here is a little designer secret: never use a hole punch when making banners — slits don’t show as much, and the pennants slide on easily but totally stay put.

B :: Ikea Ribba Frame – Just $2, we have a stockpile of these frames in 5×7 and 8×10. We use white frames the most but also love the black and silver ones.

C :: Decorative Straws – We’re not sure why exactly straws make drinks more fun, but we do know that colorful, coordinating straws are a total bonus.

D :: Silver Cupcake Liners – While decorative cupcake liners seem like a good idea, we almost always prefer the way these silver ones set off the rest of our decor. Another designer secret: practice restraint. These cupcake liners are a great place to save money without sacrificing any style. We buy these quality, neutral ones in bulk.

E :: Lollipop Sticks – These look far better then toothpicks as cupcake toppers.

F :: 2-Inch Circle Punch – If you have only one paper punch, this should be it. We use it for almost every party.

G :: Scotch Expressions Masking Tape – We love coordinating tape to the party so we don’t have to try to hide it. Plus washi tape seriously has a million uses, but we’ve been burned in the past by washi tape that just didn’t hold. Scotch’s adhesive is far better than most of the other washi tape out there.

H :: Martha Stewart Large Circle Cutter – This tool cuts absolutely PERFECT circles from 6 to 12 inches. If you want to line a cake plate or make a circle garland you need this tool. It even cuts through a couple pieces of paper at once. Seriously it’s a must have.

I :: Martha Stewart All-Purpose Scissors – I’ll admit we originally bought these just because the handle matched our other Martha tools, but these scissors are really worthy all on their own. They are comfy and have a nice, sharp tip. Usually you need to switch to smaller scissors for precision cutting, but these do both. I always use these scissors to cut the points out of pennants. The plastic sheath comes in handy too.
