I recently had this idea to stamp baby’s footprint onto tea towels as a mother’s day gift, and now I am really wishing I’d made one of these with all of my newborns. Wouldn’t that be such a fun little collection to have?
Since my baby boy isn’t here yet, my good friend Sarah was kind enough to lend me her darling daughter’s foot. We used my favorite thirsty, flour-sack towels. Brush the sole of baby’s foot with acrylic craft paint in the color of your choice. Carefully stamp onto a corner of the towel. We ended up stamping the two opposite corners on each towel just for extra fun.
By the way, I have done quite a few painted-fabric crafts (including these similar monogram tea towels) with just the regular, inexpensive, acrylic craft paint. I never pay extra for the stuff intended for fabric, and my projects have held up just fine.
I’m thinking these are perfect Mother’s Day gifts for the grandmas. Download our free printable Baby’s First Mother’s Day Gift Band to package the towels up nicely for gifting. The template is setup to print in black and white on colored cardstock.
This is so precious! It would make a wonderful and unforgettable Mother’s Day gift indeed!
Darling! I wish I had seen this when I had newborns.
Sooo Cute! I love this- glad to see it for the next time around!!!
I LOVE these!! It’s my second mothers day but I’m going to make these. Thanks for the idea.
Absolutely fantastic idea! I know my wife will love these. Thanks a lot!
I just made two of these yesterday, one of my grandson’s hands and the other of his feet. The feet turned out awesome, but the hands are another story, but still awesomely cute! He’s only 5 months only, so trying to get his hand spread out flat was next to impossible. I also stamped his name and the year above the hand/foot prints and think I’ll make this an annual tradition for a few years. Thanks so much for the great idea!
It’s going to be ending of mine day, but before end I am reading this wonderful piece of writing to improve my knowledge.
This is SUCH an adorable idea!! I love it! :)
What type of ink did you use?
I used acrylic craft paint — you can get it at any craft store or Walmart. I like the Martha Stewart brand or FolkArt.
With the paint are they washable? Im just curious if thE paint would hold up?
