Maui’s Song + Free Printable Moana Coloring Pages

I must admit we’ve gone a little Moana crazy over here! I just went to see it again with the family last night — it really is so fun. The music and imagery in this film are just incredible. I’ve got a fun clip I want to share as well as free printable Moana coloring pages for your crew to enjoy.

If you haven’t seen Moana yet, be sure to get to the theater early enough to catch the Disney short that plays beforehand called Inner Workings. It’s funny and cute but also has a really powerful message packed into a quick little film. The message about following your heart and finding joy really resonated with me right now since learning to enjoy life is something I’m personally working on… hence the whole going to a movie as a family on Monday night ;)

There are seriously so many great songs from the show, and we definitely need to get the Moana soundtrack, but I had to share the video for the “You’re Welcome” song that Maui sings when Moana first meets him. Dwayne Johnson (AKA The Rock) is the voice of the Maui character, and he actually performed this song himself. He’s got pretty good chops.

Isn’t that catchy?! I’m sorry to say it’s going to be stuck in your head the rest of the day — please don’t hate me!

I have to tell you a funny story, real quick. On the way out of the theater, our 5 year old was insisting that we take the family out for pizza, and when I told her we would be going home for dinner she started pouting. My husband tried explaining that we had just spent a pretty good chunk of money to take our whole family to the movie, buy popcorn for everyone, etc, and so we would rather save the money by eating at home (not to mention that we just had pizza on Saturday night!). His explanations weren’t making much of a dent in the complaining and then he scooped her up and sang, “What can I say except ‘You’re Welcome’ for takin’ you to the movies.” LOL!

Okay… maybe you had to be there, but really this song is like the parent’s anthem. How much do we do for our children and then they turn around with all their sass or complaints… excuse me?! I totally hear you Maui!
