Christmas trees are so magical, and when we started the #SupermomTreeParade a couple years ago, I had no idea just how much I’d enjoy scrolling through all the photos of beautiful trees in our virtual tree parade. Each day we will be sharing a favorite tree on our feed and on December 22nd we’ll be selecting a random winner.

We made a lot of changes to our house this year (have you seen my new kitchen?!), including knocking out the wall that created the corner where our tree would go. So I decided it was a good time to change things up. In past years I used a lot of green and blue. Last year I decided to mix in more rainbow colors. This year I left out color altogether, with a black and white tree the echoes the black and white color scheme that I already used to decorate my front room. I love how it turned out!

I picked up a lot of my new ornaments at World Market. They had so many cute critters like that gray fox below. We also made a bunch of ornaments like the white glass ball ornaments decorated with a black sharpie. We did this as a family and the kids had lots of fun.

We also made sequin and pin ornaments, which my great grandmother used to make every year. It was fun resurrecting that old family tradition.

I didn’t completely deprive my kids of a colorful Christmas. Actually this was the first year where we had a separate kids’ tree. They really loved having carte blanche, and their tree turned out so colorful and fun.

I love the giant star topper that we made out of a cardboard box. We cut out the star and spray painted it gold. After it dried we used washi tape to create a design. Then we brushed on regular glue and sprinkled on glitter. I suggested gold glitter, but the kids instead mixed together just about every color in the American Crafts glitter pack. Oh what fun!
