Round Up of Modern Dining Chairs

As I’ve been shopping around for modern dining room chairs I found quite a few I liked, and I thought it would be fun to do a round up. This kitchen makeover has been SO time consuming, particularly because we’re doing almost all the work ourselves. If you haven’t checked out the inspiration board and before pics you can see them here. You can also follow along with the progress on Instagram at #SeventiesKitchenRehab. Did you see the photo of our new dining room table? We built it using a salvaged tire store rack.

Our table is HUGE, almost 10-feet long. With a family of six we were sick of being squished around our table, so maybe we overcompensated a bit? I really do love how spacious it is, and I love the detail of those three bolts on the end, too bad you hardly every actually see them, but it’s okay because I know they’re there.

I was trying to find reasonably priced, modern-looking chairs that would compliment our table, and after shopping around it seems that World Market had the best options, with four styles I loved, including those metal tub chairs that are really popular right now. I considered the tub chairs for about five minutes because I do like them, but I realized that I’m kind of tired of them — have you noticed they’re everywhere? So here are my eight favorite, budget, modern dining chairs:

8 Favorite Bargain Dining Chairs via @PagingSupermom

1 :: Inspired by a mid-century design icon. $80
2 :: This commercial-quality chair is rated to hold 770 lbs and is just $30.
3 :: Love the unique shape and holes in the seat, also in white and black. $49
4 :: French bistro chairs are always a good idea. $130
5 :: Another bistro style that is just cute. $59
6 :: I love metal Navy chairs so much, and they now come in lots of colors. $78
7 :: A more traditional chair with a ladder back that still feels modern. $130
8 :: A classic shape usually done in wood reinvented with metal back and legs. $51

Here is a sneak peek at the chairs I picked. I fell hard for the mid-century styling of the Evie chairs from World Market, and they are just so darn comfortable so that sealed the deal.

Bettijo's Urban Farmhouse Kitchen Table

You can get a little hint from the background of this photo, our new kitchen is very white and airy. The big wood table was looking so dark but surrounding it with these white chairs keeps it from feeling so heavy. Nearing the end of a project like this, of course our budget is zapped. The portion we’d planned to spend on chairs ended up getting used for unforeseen electrical and drywall expenses. I am so grateful World Market came to the rescue and gifted us the Evie chairs so we could finish things up.

DISCLOSURE: World Market was kind enough to provide the chairs for our kitchen project, but we freely chose our favorites and all the opinions are our own.
