Books Alive: Fancy Nancy

Today’s installment of our Books Alive summer reading series is from Crystal of A Pumpkin and a Princess. She’s got a fun craft to share that your girls are going to love.

Having a daughter (along with two, wild boys) is a joy that I cherish everyday. She is the epitome of a girly girl. With her love of fashion, glitter and all things fabulously pink, it’s no wonder she absolutely adores Fancy Nancy.

If you’ve ever read the books you know that Nancy is one extraordinary girl with a fabulous wardrobe. We are slightly obsessed with the books, as in we have every single one that’s ever been released. We even threw a Fancy Nancy party for her third birthday. The fact that she adores the books so much may have started from the time we began reading them when she was barely one year old. Yes, a little young but she wobbled her way right up to a display at Barnes & Noble one day and grabbed the book off the shelf. We took it home that day and so began a love for Fancy Nancy and her vibrant wardrobe. Over the years her fascination with Fancy Nancy has only grown and we don’t expect it to dissipate anytime soon. Which I’m completely fine with since I adore the books as much as she does.

How to Make a Plume Pen just like #FancyNancy has! via @PagingSupermom

My daughter recently asked what a quill was and once I explained it to her she exclaimed that Fancy Nancy has one! When the girls from Paging Supermom asked me to contribute to their book series, I knew exactly what we wanted to create. These Fancy Nancy Plume Pens are fun to make for a birthday party or a fabulous writing utensil for their journals. Today I’m going to share a quick tutorial on how to make your own.

:: Feathers or ostristch plumes (craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels)
:: Glitter felt (found mine at Michaels)

Embellish the pens to your hearts desire! You can glue glitter ribbon around the pen, add adhesive rhinestones, or attach charms to the top. My daughter loves her new pens and is already asking if she can’t take hers to school this fall.
