Grandparents’ Day is September 9th, and we’ve got an idea that is perfect for all those out-of-town grandmas and grandpas:
What do grandparents like best? Hugs from their grandkids! Since you can’t ship the kids to Grandma (even if you’d like to!) trace their outstretched arms to create a giant tangible “hug” that you can roll up and mail.
We shared the full instructions and a free printable “Special Delivery” mailing label in September’s Raising Arizona Kids magazine.
It’s a beautiful and lovely idea !
Love this idea! So cute!
Love it. Love it. Love it. It will bring instant smiles to grandparents’ faces.
My husband is in Afghanastan and this will be a great gift!!!! THanks
Chrissy, please tell your husband “Thank You”. I don’t think they get thanked enough for all they do. And please know you are greatly appreciated yourself for being his support and taking care of your family while he’s gone. If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be a him. (ok, maybe there would be, but he’s probably much happier there because of you and your support!) I’m sure he’ll love his “hug”!
What a darling idea. I am passing it on to my son who teachers 4th grade.
i like the send a hug. but is there any intructions on how to do it ?
Hi Bindi,
Glad you like the idea. The full instructions and a free printable mailing label are over at Raising Arizona Kids here: https://www.raisingarizonakids.com/2012/08/send-a-hug-for-grandparents-day/
This is cute, but are the arms and head on the outside of the envelope? I would think that it would get destroyed in the mail?
No in the instructions we explain to roll up the “hug” and place inside an envelope to mail. The photo is just trying to illustrate the project.
The hands should have been traced facing the other way.
I agree. When he was traced, his palms should be facing up.
Very cute idea! Sending this to my father-in-law who has been in the hospital for a month now.
Thank you for the idea!
We sent hugs to Grandfathers on our Fathers’ day :)

ideia incrível para as grávidas (futuras mamães) e bebês! :)
Thanks for this idea! Making one with my son (2) and sending it to a long distance friend battling ovarian cancer. This will brighten her day. :)
As a Grandma who lives away from her family, this is a fabulous idea. I hope that all of the young parents out there will do this. believe me….it will mean the world to Grandma and Grandpa.
I just could not depart your sitte before suggesting that I extremely loved

Is going to bee back steadily to investigate cross-check new posts
I had my three year old and six year old make this for their mom for Valentines Day while she was deployed in Bahrain. It was an awesome way to give her some love, while also reminding her just how much they were growing! Thanks for this.

However, this scene changed when more programmers became aware of virus programming and started building viruses that manipulated and
destroyed data on infected computers. Advertisers all over the place, advertising everything underneath the sun. It’s probably some mix of the two, so
I have to give him props for not going too far in either direction.
Great idea of sending gift.
I am unable to find a long roll of papPer any ideas?
