Why I Love Being Me: The Mom to Two Boys Edition

why i love being a mom to boys

It’s no secret I love pink. And sparkly things. But nothing makes me happier than my boys. They don’t usually wear pink (and I try to avoid encouraging them to wear sparkly things), yet they, along with my husband, make life worth living. So, as I was reflecting about Motherhood today, I jotted down today’s Top Four reasons why I love being a Mom to my two boys:

1:: I get to buy H&M Boys Boxer Briefs.
Moms to girls generally have a better time shopping — with all the fun accessories, adorable dresses and sparkly shoes, how could they not? That said, I find a lot of joy in buying my sons tiny boxer briefs. A little weird? Maybe. But little boxer briefs are just so darn cute. And H&M ones are the best. Not only are they super soft, they also come in many fabulous prints.

2:: The Force keeps me safe.
No matter where I go with my boys, I will always be safe — they have the ability to use The Force (or “the forest” as they say) against any bad guys. That’s right. Even driving down our quiet neighborhood street, my boys use The Force to protect me from the bazillion evil battle droids that constantly surround our car. (Who knew battle droids were following me everywhere?) By the way, I’m sure by now everyone has seen this Passat commercial. If you have not, it’s worth a look. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that was my Liam playing mini Vader.

3:: My boys run on renewable solar power energy.
Yes, they are up with the sun and down with the stars with no stops in the middle — even on cloudy and rainy days. Although only 2 and 4, neither boy naps (and they don’t understand the concept of quiet time). I offer three meals and numerous snacks each day, yet I’m convinced they don’t really need that food for energy. In fact, they’ve been known to have too much energy to consume food. Anyone else have solar-powered kids?

4:: They sport tousle-and-go hair styles.
I still have to monitor my boys getting dressed each morning, yet I totally save time when it comes to their hair. A squirt or two of water, quick hair shake with my fingers and they are set. Each Monday we have swimming lessons. Harrison is young enough where I still get in the water with him which means after swimming all three of us are wet. Getting both my boys dressed (then myself) is quite the obstacle sheer chaos. My saving grace? Tousle-and-go hair! I don’t even pack a brush.

  1. Thanks for the tip on the H&M underwear! I refuse to buy new ones until we don’t have any “dirty” accidents anymore!

    • Oh, yes! Well, when the exciting day comes head over to H&M… I used to buy Gymboree boxer briefs (which are equally as cute), but I’ve found the H&M ones to hold their color and stay soft longer.

  2. I just found this and was so excited to see another mom who is as excited about H&M Boxer Briefs. My kindergartner will not wear any other underwear. Most of his clothes are hand-me-downs so I let myself splurge on the H&M Boxer Briefs. The color stays but sometimes, I’ve noticed the waistband stretches out. It doesn’t bother him, so we haven’t gotten rid of any until he outgrows them.
